What led you to take up kabaddi?

Kabaddi is a very popular sport in my village, Chamaria. I started playing Kabaddi 4-5 years ago by watching others play. I have represented my state in the State junior tournament.

Your journey to Pro Kabaddi League

Star Sports had conducted trials in Delhi for Pro Kabaddi League Season 5. Due to my significant performance in the trials, I was selected for one month camp in Gujarat. Selected players from the Gujarat camp were included in PKL season 5 auction pool and I was one of them. That’s how I got signed by Puneri Paltan to play in the ongoing season.

Toughest team & player you have faced this season

All teams and players are good this season.

How much has Pro kabaddi league changed kabaddi in India?

Pro Kabaddi League has given a fair chance to all young and undiscovered Kabaddi players to earn recognition, respect and fame.

Your ambition for the current season

I want to help Puneri Paltan win this season.

How do you feel when you play alongside Dharmaraj Cheralathan?

I consider myself privileged. Anna is an amazing player and I keep taking tips from him to improve my game. He is really helpful and down to earth.

Your World Cup Dreams

I want to be part of the next Kabaddi World Cup squad and of course lift the trophy for India.

If you had to make a biopic on one Kabaddi player, who would that be and why?

Anup Kumar and Manjeet Chhillar. I think both of them are stalwarts of Indian Kabaddi and every person in India recognizes them. They have made the sport glorious and brought the sport into limelight. I think they will always remain the evergreens of the game.

As kabaddi is more of an aggressive game, how do you maintain your composure on ground?

Ancient Indian practise-Yoga, is the best way to keep your mind peaceful. Meditation also helps in improving concentration and maintaining composure.

How is the atmosphere in the Puneri Paltan’s dressing room

The atmosphere in our dressing room is great. The dressing room is always buzzing with game plan, ideas and strategy. We all motivate each other and wish each other luck before we leave the room.

Your future plans for Kabaddi

I want to play Kabaddi and gain fame & recognition for myself, for my family, for the game and the country.
