The Indian team, represented by Manav Thakkar, Manush Shah, SR Snehit and Jeet Chandra suffered a narrow 3-2 defeat against Iran in 7-8 places match on Wednesday.
Major contenders for honours, India, the no.5 seeds, emerged successful in their group contest in the Boys’ Team event at the 2018 World Junior Championships in Bendigo but it was not to be for India in the 7-8 place match.
Previously, India lost at the quarter-final stage of the Boys’ Team as Chinese Taipei prevailed in a round where the top four seeded outfits all reserved last four places.
The 16th edition of World Junior Table Tennis Championships kicked off on December 2 in Bendigo, Australia. The 7-day event comprises categories of boys’ team, girls’ team, boys’ singles, girls’ singles, boys’ doubles, girls’ doubles, and mixed doubles.
